You WANT to be creative, but fear often stops you. You may not have the ideas, motivation or guidance to see your vision through. You are filled with dread that your creation would not be “good enough”. Do you suffer from perfectionism, comparison, and procrastination? Art is a great therapy for overcoming anxieties because it anchors your mind in the present, with you taking action, learning and growing and relaxing each time.

With my 7 years of experience, I am confident that I can guide you to create your own self portrait paper cut and textile collage masterpiece in person and or a paper collage portrait online while you enjoy a relaxing and mindful environment with stimulating and stunning African designs.

What you can expect

Firstly I will guide you in a meditation to empty your mind and become more mindful and connected to your inner artist. You will warm up your hand with some simple drawing exercises that will improve your confidence.

You will have time to reflect on how you want to portray your image and sketch. Step-by-step I will provide you with close guidance along each step of the sketching and cutting process.

Whether at home or in person, you can use vibrant African print to bring your artwork to life! After focusing your mind you will create an impactful and memorable work of art and be proud to have shattered through limiting beliefs. With your new found confidence, pride and skill - what else will you achieve?

Create an impactful pop-art style self-portrait with collage artist Birungi Kawooya, who will help you to reveal your inner creative. “But I can’t draw!” you say! Self-taught artist, Birungi teaches absolute beginners to shake off nerves, focus the mind and create freely. Using scrap paper from around your home, you will surprise yourself and transform yourself into a masterpiece!

You will need:

a sheet of white paper
three of identically sized sheets of coloured paper that are different colours/patterns e.g. magazine/newspaper/wrapping or wallpaper
scissors
glue/blu-tack/double-sided tape
an open mind!
